The more we hear about former National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn and Russia it’s easy to become fired up and wonder, what the hell is going on?  The chief advisor to the President of the United States on national security issues, was on the payroll of countries that want to do harm to the United States. Russia interfered with the U.S. Presidential elections. Mind boggling, but believe it or not there are more important issues that require Democrats attention.

General “lock her up” Flynn has done some things that at best call his character and judgment into question, and at worst were crimes against our national security.

He was a weed that was stamped out before it grew into a bush and at this point is of no further consequence to anyone. I appreciate Congressman Elijah Cummings insistence on seeing documentation from the White House to determine how well Flynn was or was not vetted. But considering Flynn’s worth at this point Congressman Cummings pursuit in this regard amounts to a gotcha game of Trump administration incompetence. Incompetence that America has already been made aware of thanks to the way the travel bans were handled.

Fortunately for America Flynn was replaced by General H.R. McMaster, a man who all agree will allow us to sleep well at night. Flynn wasn’t National Security Advisor long enough to be of any use to Russia if it turns out he was a traitor. He wasn’t in a position to play a role in anything Russia might have done to influence the election.

Trump won fair and square

Democrats must face the fact Donald Trump won fair and square. Nothing Russia did won the election for President Trump, American demographics and non-racist white solidarity won the election. It’s important to know what Russia did to try to influence our election to prevent future abuse, but treating

Russian hacking and Flynn investigations like Republicans treated Benghazi would be a mistake. The House and Senate Intelligence Committees are investigating Russian hacking and a Pentagon Inspector General is investigating General Flynn.  This is sufficient to get to the bottom of what went wrong.

Democrats should focus on executing the same do the right thing for the people discipline shown in 2006, after taking control of the both the House and Senate.

Instead of political investigations into why President Bush led us into a war to eliminate weapons of mass destruction that were never found, Democrats conducted bi-partisan policy investigations into how the intelligence community got it wrong. Not political investigations into whether or not George Bush lied to go to war to overthrow Saddam Hussein for trying to kill his father.

Republicans spent years and millions of dollars on political Benghazi investigations, trying in vain to prove that the Obama

administration lied about an Embassy bombing to win reelection. Nothing of any substance came out of these investigations because they were just political theatre.

Democrats need to stay focused on healthcare, Republicans are still trying to repeal it. Instead of holding hearings on Russia or Michael Flynn Democrats should be holding hearings on fixes to Obamacare. I have yet to hear Democrats propose any tax reform ideas like President Trump has.

No time for revenge

These two issues alone impact the lives of the average American a lot more than if a guy was taking money under the table or if Russia was spreading lies about a presidential candidate.

Democrats I know you are anxious to deal some pay-back for the Obama years of Republican obstruction and political investigations, but look at Republicans. What do they have to show for all the years of obstruction and politics, nothing? They control both Houses of Congress and the Presidency now and still can’t repeal Obamacare because they have no replacement, in other words there was no substance behind Obamacare opposition.

Democrats please stay focused on delivering for the people and not on scoring political defeats of your opponents, or you will end up like Republicans who have controlled both houses of Congress since 2014 and have nothing to show for it.
