Why do many people in America who don’t look like each other still have problems relating to each other??? This question about American democracy is older than our 246-year-old American United States of America. Because it’s been a question since the instant that the first European Whites arrived on the shores of the North and South American continents. Now in 2022, the answer to the older than America question threatens to destroy humanity’s first true democracy, an answer reflected in a casual answer by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to a casual question.
Since Republicans support no legislation to restore the racial discrimination prevention power of the Voting Rights Act, support no legislation to guarantee that every legally cast vote by any American citizen will be counted. Mitch McConnell was asked what his message was to voters of color concerned about their ability to vote during this year’s midterms if Congress didn’t pass the bills. Mitch McConnell answered, “The concern is misplaced because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans”.
As appropriately expected the social media reaction to Mitch McConnell was immediate and numerous, an example was the following tweet from the NAACP, “Senator McConnell, what is the difference between African Americans and Americans?” Republicans against Trumpism tweeted “Collin Powell was a real American,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison an American Black tweeted “Hey McConnell, for your information, I’m also an American”, the Congressional Black Caucus tweeted “African Americans ARE Americans, 365 days a year”, and many American Blacks tweeted pictures of themselves with the caption “I am American” and using the #MitchPlease hashtag.
As hopefully wished for but not appropriately expected from most Republicans these days due to the rise of racist Trumpism within the Republican Party, the reaction from Republican Mitch McConnell to the reaction of American Blacks was one of dismay and “hurt” according to Mitch McConnell himself. Refusing to be associated with Republican Trumpist who not only deny American Black discrimination but promote American White supremacy, in responding to the outcry Mitch McConnell told reporters last Wednesday following a speech in his state of Kentucky “I’ve never been accused of this sort of thing before, and it’s hurtful and offensive,” McConnell also pointed out that he attended the Rev. Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in 1963, that he helped organize a civil rights march at Kentucky’s state Capitol, was present when President Lyndon Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act in 1965, and his mentorship of Kentucky State’s first American Black Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
Referring to Cameron Mitch McConnell declared “I think he would confirm with you that I recruited him to run. I’ve supported him and I’m proud of him, McConnell added “I have had African American speechwriters, schedulers, office managers over the years”. I agree with Mitch McConnell that all these things are proof of where his heart is racially and I don’t believe that his statement “African Americans voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans” is a reflection that he has a conscious belief in his heart or mind that American Blacks are not true Americans.
I also disagree with Mitch McConnell because I do believe that his statement “African Americans voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans” is a reflection that he, like most American Whites and like most American Blacks, has an unconscious belief in his mind that American Blacks are not true Americans. How can he not??? How can any American, black or white, not have an unconscious belief in their mind that American Blackness is either inferior American or not true American at all!!!
Before America became America when European Whites first landed on the shores of what was a new world to only European Whites, the North American and South American continents, European Whites promoted philosophically and legally mandated everywhere they colonized territory in the so-called new world the false fact that Native Americans and all other people of color, especially those from the continent of Africa, were an inferior sub-human class of people not equal to European Whites and genetically closer to apes than to European White human beings.
America the home of the brave, the land of the free where all human beings are created equal and entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness created 246 years ago all of its economic, educational, legal, religious, social, government, and above all else its labor workforce systems on the false fact that people of color were inferior and sub-human, therefore the equality talked about philosophically and legally mandated for all human beings by the American Constitution didn’t apply to people of color. Belief in the false fact that people of color were inferior and sub-human by American Whites after the 1776 Declaration of Independence, was sacrosanct and an absolute necessity for America to justify its existence based on the American Constitution.
Those American White males representing the original 13 colonies who sat around in Philadelphia for days and months creating the instruction manual on who, what, and where America would be, the American Constitution, considered themselves to be just as God-fearing, just as respectful of the right to worship the God of one’s choice, just as respectful of the right of all human beings to be treated equally as Mitch McConnell considers himself to be 2022.
But with one significant difference, The false fact allowed George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and the rest of the founding fathers to create a country where it was unconstitutional and illegal to deny human beings freedom and equality, and still sleep at night while consciously owning people of color who legally possessed no rights that any American legal system or any American White would acknowledge. Because people of color were genetically considered to be animals used for free-of-charge labor and not human beings.
Thanks to Frederick Douglass and Nat Turner, the Martin Luther King, and pre-Mecca Malcolm X of their day, and the argument among American Whites over the morality of slavery, the Civil War, the process of consciously acknowledging the humanity of people of color started. Thanks to Thurgood Marshall, Martin Luther King Jr., and the Civil Rights Movement the process of acknowledging the humanity of people of color was completed. The Civil Rights Movement inspired and forced America to successfully take the final necessary philosophical, economic, religious, and social societal engineering steps like the 1964 Civil Rights Act to eradicate from conscious American life the false fact that people of color were inferior or sub-human.
The successful 100 plus years process for America, American Whites, American Blacks, and for everyone else to consciously accept the humanity and equality of colored people is why Mitch McConnell, the great-great-grandson of 2 slave-owning great-great-grandfathers, can HONESTLY claim to be offended that his verbal gaffe raised questions about his conscious belief that American Blacks are true Americans. Unfortunately for Mitch McConnell he nor American Whites, American Blacks, or anyone else living in the United States can honestly claim not to be corrupted by a remaining unconscious and systemically invisible 200 plus years of programming that white is superior, black is inferior so therefore black can’t be true American because America and everything that is true American is superior.
In other words, Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement completed the process of removing racism and inequality from the heart of America and most Americans but not from the system of America nor the unconscious mind of most Americans, both white and black!!! The final step to removing racism and inequality from the unconscious mind of Americans is to reform the systems of American society. Systems that were philosophically designed with the mindset that the white race is human and the black race is sub-human.
Reforming the philosophical systemically racially biased systems of America is the final step to rendering the question of why so many people who don’t look like each other have problems relating to each other OBSOLETE. It’s the final step to help the unconscious mind of Mitch McConnell that caused him to misspeak separating American Blacks from true Americans, the unconscious mind, which based on his refusal to vote to restore the Voting Rights Act, has no concern that the equality of the American Black vote is at stake, it’s the final step to help his unconscious mind sync up with the Mitch McConnell heart that was hurt and offended that anyone questioned his conscious belief in racial equality.
To successfully systemically reform America and cure the unconscious mind of racism, first and foremost, an accurate account of America’s racial history must be made available to any American who desires to know it. Second economic and social engineering initiatives similar to those successfully deployed to eradicate conscious discrimination and racism during the Civil Rights Movement like Affirmative Action Programs, the Voting Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act are now required to eradicate both the invisible American systemic racism and the remnants of unconscious racism still present in everyone’s mind, only this time a new component must be added to the mix.
The new additional component would be to design, create, and implement an Affirmative Action Program specifically for and exclusively to American Whites. The reasons that American Whites now require an Affirmative Action Program are different than the reasons why American Blacks still require one in 2022, so the Affirmative Action for American Whites will have similar characteristics but must be tailored differently than the affirmative action program for American Blacks.
Aside from the psychological and emotional support, an Affirmative Action Program exclusively for American Whites gives to all American Whites, it will also serve as a point of unification of all Americans. American Whites will no longer be able to claim that the American government only creates programs that economically and socially engineer policy to the benefit of people of color, Affirmative Action for American Whites means American Whites would have a policy specifically engineered to benefit them exclusively. After all American Whites are also people of color, the white color!!!
