The Gandhi Foundation at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non violent Social Change, honored global humanitarian leader and spiritual master Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the Gandhi Peace Pilgrim award, recognizing his commitment to peace and non-violence. Gurudev was welcomed by Dr. Isaac Newton Farris, Jr., Senior Fellow of the MLK Center, and the nephew of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. nephew; and Hon. Consul General of India, Smt. Swati Kulkarni.

The EGMH welcomed its first visitors on August 15, 2023. However, the grand inauguration ceremony took place on October 2, 2023, by his grandson, Shri Rajmohan Gandhi, on the occasion of the 154th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. This special museum is located in Houston, Texas, and its the only museum in the United States dedicated entirely to Gandhi.
