President Trump you ran for office saying you would make America great again. You said you would not leave people in the street needing healthcare, and that you would fix healthcare. As President you said you hope the Republican Senate healthcare bill will have “heart”. Monday you showed your heart by offering assistance to get medical treatment for a dying child. Wow! What a great thing to do, my only question is Mr. President what about us here in America!
Monday Mr President you tweeted
If we can help little #CharlieGard, as per our friends in the U.K. and the Pope, we would be delighted to do so.

Grand gesture made
You made an eleventh-hour intervention in the case of terminally-ill baby Charlie Gard, by offering access to healthcare that might save the child’s life. It came as Chris Gard and Connie Yates are spending the last days of their 10-month-old son’s life with him, after being given more time before his life-support is turned off.
Charlie, who suffers from a rare genetic condition and has brain damage, is being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. The little boy has been at the center of a lengthy legal battle between his parents, who wanted him to undergo a therapy trial in the US, and specialists at the hospital who said the treatment was experimental and would not help.
Charlie’s parents, both in their 30s and from Bedfont, west London, had asked European court judges in Strasbourg, France, to consider their case after judges in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in London ruled in favor of the hospital doctors. Unfortunately for the parents the European Court of Human Rights refused to intervene.
President Trump you did step up in a great way with real heart, but one has to ask, President Trump what about the millions of Americans according to the Congressional Budget Office who are like baby Charlie! Under both your Republican Party controlled House and Senate, millions of Americans will lose their access to healthcare and some like baby Charlie will die!
Half-truths mislead
Speaker Paul Ryan and Republicans overlook certain facts and claim Obamacare is dying because insurance companies are pulling out of places. If that’s true President Trump why would you not intervene with a strategy to fix healthcare to, thereby saving American lives. You said America first, why not step up for us like you you’re stepping up for the European baby Charlie?
The claim that insurance companies are pulling out of places because of problems with Obamacare is false.
According to Business Insider insurance companies are freaking out over whether the White House will continue to fund the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) so-called Cost-Sharing-Reduction (CSR) payments.
CSR payments are provided to insurers to defray the cost of offering low-income Americans cheaper out-of-pocket costs on the ACA’s individual insurance exchanges. The money is funneled through the plans to providers to make up the difference in co-pays or deductibles paid by Americans making 200% of the federal poverty line or less. Any money not used to lower the costs is returned to the federal government.
Grand gesture needs to be made for Americans
Currently, the roughly $8 billion in payments comes from the White House rather than a congressional appropriation. The payments have been the subject of a lawsuit between the Republican-controlled House and the executive branch dating back to the Obama administration.
Trump’s recent threats to cease the payments have caused insurers and industry groups to grow increasingly worried about potential losses and their participation in the individual insurance markets.
Mr. President at the very least why not calm insurance companies fears by stepping up and saying “Whatever happens with healthcare reform, I guarantee all insurance companies that as long as Obamacare is the law of the land all CSR payments will be made fully in a timely fashion”
Step up and give the insurance companies the assurance that they will have access to the cash to provide access to the healthcare that American Charlie’s need.
President Trump you say “America first”, we’ve seen how you can step up for a European in need of healthcare. Now Mr. President we need you to step for up American Charlie’s and fix healthcare in America. The 8 billion dollars is a White House appropriation not a Congressional appropriation, meaning you don’t need a Congressional vote on a bill to spend the money.
President Trump American healthcare is calling out to you like baby Charlie did, please hear the American plea, put America first and do your part free of politics to calm the insurance waters and fix healthcare in America.
