The last time Democrats lost the popular vote for President to Republicans was 20 years ago, the last time Democrats lost all the states that would be considered battleground states was 44 years ago and truth be told Democrats got what they deserved, not because of their message and not because of their policies. Democrats got what they deserved because there is one MAGA lesson Democrats don’t know but need to learn.
In the aftermath of the Democrats’ presidential shellacking last November many reasons have been offered as explanations, initially, they ranged from A to Z, but regardless of whether it was the campaign message, who the campaign message was messaged to, how the campaign money was spent, the Donald Trump transgender ads that went unanswered, what the candidate herself said, or where the candidate should have held a rally and where the candidate wasted her time holding a rally, they all seem to conclude by somehow ultimately holding President Joe Biden responsible for the shellacking. Proof-positive that there is a MAGA lesson Democrats don’t know but need to learn.
Whether some might find it strange or others might find it acceptable, to ultimately blame Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss on someone not listed on the 2024 presidential election ballot is irrelevant, what is relevant to Democrats shellacking and the MAGA lesson they don’t know but must learn to avoid a repeat, is whose name was on the ballot and whose name was not is the MAGA lesson!!! Former President and now President-elect Donald Trump was on the ballot because MAGA Republicans know and live the MAGA lesson Democrats don’t know but must learn.
After 34 criminal convictions, after 2 civil convictions for bank fraud, defamation, and sexual assault, after telling all 50 U.S. governors in 2020 during the deadly COVID-19 virus that was killing 3,000 Americans a day not to expect federal government help, after announcing many times a fake Infrastructure Week which always failed to produce an infrastructure law, after being credited with losing MAGA Republican control of both the House and Senate during his term as President, after being impeached twice as President, after losing MAGA control of the White House when he loss reelection in the 2020 presidential election, and after losing the 2024 presidential debate to Kamala Harris so badly that he refused to debate her a second-time MAGA Republicans, in the “Stand By Your Man” spirit of Tammy Wynette, stood by their man Donald John Trump all the way from his 2016 presidential election, his two impeachments as President, his 2020 presidential election loss and on through to his victorious 2024 presidential reelection.
After telling all Americans and all American businesses that the federal government had their back, and successfully leveraging federal government resources to restart the first-ever shutdown of the American economy due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic that was killing 3,000 Americans a day, after creating 16 million jobs the most amount created by any one term President in American history, after creating the lowest American unemployment rate in 50 years, after producing a real Infrastructure Week featuring a real bi-partisan infrastructure law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, that will add 1.5 million jobs per year for the next 10 years, spend $55 billion to eliminate all lead pipes expanding access to clean drinking water for all households, businesses, schools, and child care centers in America, spend $65 billion to provide internet access to rural and economically-challenged urban areas in America which currently have no access, spend $110 billion to repair or rebuild America’s roads and bridges, after stimulating 20 million new business start-ups, after stimulating record stock market highs, and after generating over 1 trillion investment dollars in America’s private sector economy.
In true here today gone tomorrow fashion Democrats abandoned one of the most successful and productive Presidents in American history, President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., quicker than cockroaches fleeing to hide in a suddenly lit room, for his style of looking like, stutter-talking like, and walking like a coherent competent 80-year-old, and for losing one presidential debate to Donald Trump.
Ironically Democrats point with pride to their authorship of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), abandoning President Biden because he was not vigorous-looking enough but was functioning as President vigorously enough to produce historic results, because of the way he walked when former President Franklin Roosevelt proved under the most dire circumstances of the Great Depression combined with America at war, on 2 fronts in World War 2, that a President can be confined to a wheelchair not able to walk and still do a damn good job leading America and the world, and because his 80-year-old physical abilities no longer enable him to hide his life-long stuttering affliction is nothing less than Democrats inflicting age discrimination on President Biden because his physical characteristics reflect his 80-year old age.
Also abandoning President Biden over his Donald Trump debate performance was, as MAGA Republicans well know, fool’s gold. Because the most powerful person in the world never has to debate. I personally have been standing in the Secret Service security line to gain entrance to the White House as a person boldly proclaims “I don’t care who he is I’m going to school the President on how wrong he is and I am not going to use sugar-coated words to do so” We get into the meeting and this same person who was not going to use sugar-coated words to school the President humbly asks the President for permission to speak. Even when a President meets with arguably the second most powerful person in the world, the leader of China Xi Jinping, if any debate is necessary it is a debate that is well scripted in advance ensuring that a President will not be asked any questions or hear any comments that he does not have an answer for or response to.
Democrats judging Joe Biden unfit to serve because he lost a debate is FOOL’S GOLD because American Presidents don’t have debate with anyone
The only creditable question President Biden’s 80-year-old gait to his walking, his 80-year-old appearance, his 80-year-old inability to hide his stuttering affliction, his 80-year-old sounding voice, and his Donald Trump debate performance should raise, is whether his current mental acuity, which is what has been responsible for his historic achievements not his walk, talk, sound of his voice, or debate acumen, will last for another 4 years.
In 2018 when concerns were raised about the then-Trump administration, a senior Trump administration official wrote a now-famous op-ed under the pseudonym Anonymous to reveal the truth. At no time during Biden’s presidency has any senior official come forward on or off the record to say President Biden is repeating himself, President Biden seems unable to concentrate, President Biden repeats the same question minutes after getting the answer, or President Biden falls asleep during briefings. No foreign leaders after meeting with President Biden have whispered concerns off the record about his physical or mental acuity.
America has seen President Biden fall 3 times, once from his bike onto concrete, but unlike most people his age who suffer similar falls President Biden has not needed hip replacement surgery. When Nancy Pelosi fell last month while visiting Luxembourg with a congressional delegation she required immediate hip replacement surgery while still there. Recently retired as Minority Leader in the Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell, was never the same after he fell in March 2023, since that initial fall he has fallen again and had 2 incidents, one while giving a speech and the other while conducting a press conference, where he suddenly froze for several minutes unable to speak or move.
When most people President Biden’s age fall down at home they break a hip. Above a 79-yer-old President Biden fell of his bike on to concrete without breaking any of the 79-year-old bones in his body
Unfortunately, Democrats have not learned the MAGA lesson so they answered the logical question of how much longer would President Biden’s mental acuity last, by doing to President Biden something MAGA Republicans faced with the exact same facts and circumstances would never do to their man Donald Trump, Democrats abandoned their loyal historic winning horse and forced President Biden to withdraw from the race. Aside from the political cruelty of abandoning the political savior who led and delivered Democrats to the political promised land, forcing President Biden out of the race put Democrats in the position of either unintentionally overlooking or intentionally disregarding a basic human frailty. Overlooking or disregarding this human frailty is the ultimate reason why MAGA Republicans will take control of the White House on January 20th.
As I opined in my February 2023 column The Difficult Sacrifice Biden’s Age Might Force In 2024, the answer to the logical question of how long President Biden’s mental acuity would last was not to remove him, the answer was to make the same difficult sacrifice Democrats made in 1944 when they faced the same precise circumstance. In 1944 Franklin Roosevelt was up for reelection, like Biden Roosevelt had a successful track record of presidential accomplishments, but like with Biden, Democrats had serious doubts that Roosevelt’s health would last another 4 years.
Because 1944 Democrats feared that Roosevelt’s hand-picked Vice President, who served Roosevelt faithfully and competently for 4 years but denounced Jim Crow racism and expressed pro-Russia views while doing so, Henry Wallace, was too liberal to become President when Roosevelt died before his term expired, 1944 Democrats didn’t force their number 1 horse with the historic winning track record off the ballot, they forced Roosevelt to replace the number 2 horse Vice President Wallace with Senator Harry Truman on the 1944 reelection ballot. 2024 Democrats should have done the same thing and replaced Vice President Kamala Harris with a different vice presidential candidate on the 2024 election ballot, for the following 2 reasons.
1) Anyone who truly knows Vice President Kamala Harris is aware of her immense talents and knows she would be a great President, but therein lies the problem!!! Only I and about 5-10 million non-California resident Americans truly know Vice President Harris, which is too few for her to ever have had a chance of winning in 2024. It was not the way Vice President Harris laughs, it was not what state or city she campaigned in or what state or city she did not, it was not because she did not campaign hard enough for the American black male vote, it was not misogyny or because her campaign failed to highlight the potential of Harris making history by being the first female elected President.
Vice President Harris lost because America hardly knew her, which is why the MAGA transgender ads were able to successfully lie and exaggerate her support for transgender rights, those same ads would have fallen flat against President Biden because after he served 36 years as a U.S. Senator America knows him well. Harris did not even serve a full 6-year term as Senator, she only served 4 years, with her only noticed high-profile Senate achievement by non-politically-observant Americans, being her questioning of Brett Kavanaugh to be a Supreme Court Judge, and her 2020 campaign to be President ended before the first presidential primary in Iowa, eliminating the best opportunity for American voters to become exposed to her personal brand of leadership.
High-profile Democrats George Clooney, James Carville, and Congressman James Clyburn, the Democrat who successfully persuaded Biden to pick Harris as Vice President, must have had a sense of this. Because the successful game-changing op-ed Clooney wrote forcing Biden to step down did not call for Harris to step up. Carville also called for Biden to step down and suggested Democrats should not nominate Harris to replace Biden, but instead follow Clyburn’s suggestion of holding a mini Democrat Party primary to determine Biden’s replacement.
All 3 of these Democrats appeared to have been looking for a politically correct way of saying they thought Harris would be a weak candidate. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who might already know the MAGA lesson her fellow Democrats need to learn, because she never joined those calling for Biden to step down, threw political correctness to the wind and released a video, before Biden withdrew, stating that in the same back room conversations among donors and Democratic Party “elites” about Biden stepping down, “nobody” is talking about Harris stepping up. Vice President Harris not having a known brand among American voters is the reason why fewer women voted for her in 2024 than did vote for Biden in 2020.
It’s also the reason that although Donald Trump was the first Republican in 20 years to win the popular vote, his 2024 popular vote total of 77,00,628 was over 2 million more popular votes than his 2020 vote total, but was over 4 million votes less than President Biden’s 2020 popular vote total of 81,282,632, lastly, it’s the reason why Kamala Harris’s 2024 popular vote total of 74,670,992 was only 447,758 more votes than Trump’s losing 2020 popular vote total of 74, 223,234.
Replacing President Biden on the 2024 election ballot with Vice President Harris bestowed upon Donald Trump the human frailty advantage that guaranteed his victory. The human frailty responsible for Trump’s victory and Harris’s loss is, that a person will choose the devil they feel they know over the angel they feel they don’t know. Whether or not Democrats overlooked or disregarded this common human frailty, they should have received a heads up when they realized one of Nikki Haley’s main talking points for her 2024 presidential campaign was to vote for her, because “a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for Kamala Harris” the unknown quantity who will replace an unhealthy Biden unable to serve a complete 4-year term. Those who don’t agree with the human frailty argument and sight Donald Trump as never having held any political office before his 2016 election as President, overlook the fact he had a 20-year known brand as one of America’s most successful businessmen long before he announced his 2016 run for the presidency.
2) Regardless of a Vice President’s age, gender, race, religion, sexuality, political affiliation, or the fact that they are the first of their gender, race, culture, religion, or sexuality to serve as Vice President, the first responsibility of the Vice President is to serve the President. This means a Vice President’s political ambition, political thoughts or ideas, political future, religious values, and cultural heritage are all publicly silenced while they serve as a President’s Vice President.
The President’s political ambition, political thoughts or ideas, political future, religious values, and cultural heritage all become the Vice President’s public political ambition, political thoughts or ideas, political future, religious values, and cultural heritage. There can never be any public daylight between a President and the Vice President. The only time the Vice President gets to express a personal opinion on anything they disagree with the President on is in private to the President. A Vice President has 3 responsibilities: 1) Do anything legal to preserve, facilitate, and prosper their President-boss’s administration, 2) be ready at a moment’s notice to assume the Presidency if the President is unable to perform his or her duties, 3) cast the tie-breaking vote in the U.S. Senate whenever a tie occurs by voting for what the President instructs the Vice President to vote for.
In other words, it’s the Vice President’s political life that is sacrificed to save the President’s political life, not the President’s political life sacrificed to save the Vice President’s political life, even if the Vice President’s political life is a historical first. A Vice President is the political equivalent of a Secret Service Agent, the Vice President is supposed to willingly place their political life in the line of fire if necessary to protect the political life of the President.
Democrats allowed political correctness concerning the first woman and the first American Black to serve as Vice President, to blind them to the day 1 truth surrounding questions about President Biden’s health and age. It was never truly about Joe Biden it was about Kamala Harris from day 1. No non-politically biased person could argue with the historic job President Biden is doing as President, one can only argue, based on his age, how long can he continue the historic work.
When you consider the fact that when the Founding Fathers wrote the American Constitution in 1787, they created the position of Vice President for the sole purpose of replacing a President who dies before their term expires, when you further consider that in 1967 America ratified the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution enabling, the Vice President and a majority of a President’s cabinet, to “transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President”.
Anyone concerned about what happens if President Biden’s health fails should rest easy because of the 25th Amendment, UNLESS, you have doubts about the person who replaces him. That’s why the gold standard for a presidential candidate selecting a vice presidential candidate is to pick the person best qualified to fill a presidential vacancy. Anyone not asking for an immediate Biden resignation because of his age is obviously fine with President Biden continuing to serve, so any true age concerns are about his future ability to mentally complete or live out a 4-year term, in other words, they are not truly concerned about Joe Biden’s age they have true doubt and concern about Kamala Harris, who would automatically replace him if and when it was determined that President Biden was no longer able to mentally or physically function as President, or God forbid died while in office.
Vice President Harris herself contributed to the doubt and concern, by overreacting to ratings-driven news media hype over her truthful and logical answer, while a guest on the talk show The View, about how she would lead America differently than President Biden. Harris replied to the question by saying “We’re obviously two different people and I will bring those sensibilities to how I lead.” When pressed further for a difference she replied “There is not a thing that comes to mind I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact”. In other words, Harris was saying because she is a different individual than Biden her style of implementation may be different, but because she has played a major decision-making role in creating Biden’s historic accomplishments the policies would basically remain the same.
Instead of standing by that logic and not reacting to media hype or advice from fellow Democrats who haven’t learned the MAGA lesson, Vice President Harris reverses herself and proclaims “Let me be very clear, my presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency” Putting aside the insanity of distancing or separating herself from Biden’s 50-year record low unemployment, his 16 million jobs the most amount created by a one-term administration in American history, his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, that will add 1.5 million jobs per year for the next 10 years, spend $55 billion to expand access to clean drinking water for all households, businesses, schools, and child care centers in America, spend $65 billion to provide internet access to every part of America, and spend $110 billion to repair or rebuild all of America’s roads and bridges.
By proclaiming her presidency would not be a continuation of Biden’s, Vice President Harris raised the precise 2024 election question Donald Trump prayed for, which was If she won’t continue Biden’s policies who knows what this woman, who we really don’t know, will do, will she be a transgender activist President like they say???
Obviously, for most voters, the answer became it’s best to choose the devil we know over the angel we don’t know. Since the questions and concerns about Biden’s age were not about the job he is doing, but did truly cause a paradigm shift from Americans never voting for President based on who is running for Vice President, to Americans voting for or not voting for President Biden based on who was running for Vice President, the solution was to replace Vice President Harris, the unknown character, not President Biden, the known character.
Had Democrats learned the MAGA lesson to always stand by your leader, and that the leader is always the last one standing, not the first one to take the hit, Democrats would have greatly increased their chances of holding on to the White House. As the saying goes dance with the one that brought you, leave with the one that brought you, unfortunately for Democrats, they are only getting it half right, they chose wrongly to dance with Kamala Harris who did not bring them to the White House, so now the only choice left is to leave the White House with the one who brought them there, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr.
