The old conflict that has prevented true peace in the Middle East has once again heated up. This 54-year-old conflict has existed for the entire 49 years of Joe Biden’s federal political career, unfortunately, his initial response to this latest outbreak of violence between Israel and the Palestinians reflects the age of his politics and early signs of his possible political insanity.

Our closest and best ally in the Middle East is and always should be Israel it’s the only true democracy located there. There is no other country in the Middle East whose moral and philosophical values resemble America’s more than Israel, this fact alone makes it a cultural and national security necessity to continue America’s 73-year commitment to the preservation of Israeli society. But to ensure another 73 years of Israel’s existence America must change how it supports Israel and change what Israeli actions it will continue to support.

2 weeks ago the 54-year-old conflict, which is about land Israel seized in the 1967 Six-Day War, reared its ugly and violent head again when fighting broke out between Israel and the terrorist-designated Islamic Resistance Movement organization Hamas. As usual, the backdrop of the conflict is Israel asserting the principle of the right of return for all Jews while denying the same right of return for all Palestinians. The fighting was sparked when a squad of Israeli police officers raided the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, considered the third holiest site in Islam, several times during the 2021 observance of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The Israeli police action was not only an inconsiderate act of violent aggression but was considered by all Palestinians as the ultimate sign of disrespect for their Islamic faith, giving Hamas the illegitimate excuse to fire missiles on innocent Israeli citizens killing 12 of them, which then gave the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) the excuse to respond with disproportionate destructive force killing 142 Palestinians. The world’s greatest theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein, said the definition of insanity “is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” President Biden’s initial response to this latest violent conflict was to issue the same old perfunctory response he has repeated for his entire 49-year federal political career when violence erupts, “Israel has the right to defend itself,” demonstrating his political insanity and his old age thinking on Middle East peace.

President Biden is not alone in his political insanity America, Israel and the Palestinians are all showing their political insanity because they all keep doing the same thing while expecting a different result. Israel thinks by continuing its illegal occupation of the land for the future state of Palestine it seized in the Six-Day War, objective thinking people will eventually think it’s legal because the God that Jewish people pray to promised the land to the Jewish people. Many Palestinians think by continuing to resist Israel’s right to exist on land that the world in 1947 through United Nations (UN) Resolution 181 designated will make the world change its mind and Israel vacate its legal right to exist. America and President Biden think that continuing to make Israel the most powerful and violent offensive military force in the Middle East, will make the world change its mind and accept Israel’s illegal occupation of land not a part of the UN-designated state of Israel.

President Biden must reject committing future acts of Israeli political insanity and lead America to embrace a new way of guaranteeing Israel’s right to exist. The old insanity way, thanks to American military support, does guarantee Israel’s existence but its co-existence with inconsistent violence and insecurity, a new sane way with American military involvement would guarantee Israel’s long-term co-existence with consistent peace and security. President Biden’s new sane approach to Middle East peace should be to say to Israel that America will continue to arm it with superior defensive capability like the Iron Dome missile defense system, but in regards to superior offensive capability, America demands that Israel withdraw all IDF troops from all land seized in the Six-Day War to be replaced by American troops.

American troops would remain on Israel’s border guaranteeing its peace and security while Israel’s last negotiating partner for peace and the recognized legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) would be empowered with American and international technical help to establish the new state of Palestine on the previously occupied land. The PLO would be free to establish a democratic state with all the same rights and privileges as any other free democratic society. This would include a contiguous landmass to encompass the new country, airports for planes and ports of entry for shipping, and armed forces for self-defense. The number 1 rule and only prohibition would be don’t F with Israel!!! America’s presence on Israel’s border would guarantee no one would.

Israel raises a valid fact when it points out that between 1947 and 1967 no one from the Palestinian, Arabic, or Islamic world lifted a finger to establish a state of Palestine on the UN-designated land by the same UN resolution that designated land for the state of Israel. Unfortunately for Palestinians instead of their supporters from the Arabic or Islamic community being focused on helping Palestinians establish a new country, they took advantage of Palestinians and used the land designated for a Palestinian state to commit acts of destruction against the state of Israel.

Terrorist acts of destruction like firing missiles against innocent civilian citizens, not having a ruling government authority in Gaza or the West Bank to establish and maintain peace, and the close proximity of people who question Israel’s right to exist or call for its destruction are all justifiable reasons for Israel to temporarily invade, quell the source of violence, and withdraw back to its UN-designated territory. However, none of these reasons should be justification for Israel to permanently occupy land designated for a state of Palestine suppressing freedom and creating Apartheid-like conditions for the Palestinians who live there.

Realistically Israel or no other country can be expected to leave unattended a neighboring territory where people hostile to its existence live. This is where America and President Biden must end the political insanity and try a new way to guarantee Israel’s peace and security. America gives Israel billions of dollars every year for its peace and security, some of those dollars should now be used to place American troops on the border with Israel and the new state of Palestine. This would last for a minimum of 5 years to a maximum of 10 years. Israel no longer has the creditability to maintain peace in the occupied territories, its continued presence there represents oppression, not liberation.  Nor is Israel in a position to conduct the temporary martial law necessary to eliminate the terrorist element, while the PLO establishes the national constitution and operating components for a new state of Palestine.

With American troops on Israel’s border Israeli fear of Hamas rocket fire, or of being in such close proximity to people hostile to their existence can end immediately. Israel would be able to return to its prosperous growth trajectory in peace and security, while America with the help of the international community can do in Palestine what it did in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sponsor the creation of a new Palestinian democratic society where citizens are free to experience life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

An independent self-determining democratic state of Palestine with an economy that provides jobs for its citizens, and has its own intelligence and police capabilities to identify, pursue, and subdue terrorist elements like Hamas is the best and most reliable way to secure long term peace and security for the state of Israel. If Palestinians can live the same life of self-determination and freedom as Israelis are, it is no longer in their best interest to be at war with their next-door neighbor or allow a terrorist element to exist in their midst that would launch missiles against its innocent next-door neighbors.

Now is the time for America to make real its long-stated policy of 2 INDEPENDENT states living together side by side in peace!!! By America demanding that both sides move IMMEDIATELY to create the new state of Palestine. This would end the old tried and failing insanity way of allowing Israel to conduct Apartheid-like occupation because they justifiably fear the people that live in very close proximity, or Israel taking steps to prevent the creation of Palestine out of fear the new country would attack it. After all, any threat to the peace and security of Israel is eliminated as soon as American troops land on the Israeli border.

President Biden and America’s stated policy of Israel has the right to defend itself, is code for we are doing the same thing again but we expect a different outcome this time which is code for this policy equates to INSANITY!!! The logical alternative is to send economic aid and technical support to immediately create the state of Palestine and American troops to provide peace and security for Israel.
